To apply, please complete the on-line CLASSIFIED application and choose the SUBSTITUTE - Food and Nutrition Services Job.  After review of applications, and email (invitation) may be sent to applicant regarding date, time and place of orientation. During the first session, candidates will receive information regarding our Food Service program, job requirements and expectations of a Food Service employee and complete a Job Assessment Questionnaire.

At the second session, candidates will receive information on food safety and sanitation, food service procedures and Federal regulation that must be followed.  Food Service regular positions are typically filled from our Substitute pool.  At the second session, qualified candidates will be notified of available 3 hour positions for consideration.  Arrangements will also be made to complete finger printing.  A $28.25 finger printing fee (check or money order made out to Boise School District) and I9 documentation is required.

Attendance at both orientations and clearance of a background check are required prior to being hired as a Food Service Substitute.  These orientations are held at 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, Idaho.  Substitute positions are available on an as-needed, on-call basis.  The Substitute pool will be reviewed for work activity and availability at the end of each semester.

DAYS:  
SALARY:  

Half day - $32.50    Work assignments up to 3.5 hours (Most positions average 3 hours)

Full day - $65   Work assignment up to 6 hours (Most positions average 5.5 hours)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Graduation from High School or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience with institutional foodservice preferred.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for recipes, production sheets, and cashiering.
  • Willingness to learn and follow Federal, State, Local, District and Foodservice policies and regulations.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with school personnel, students and the public.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds.
